Don't worry, there are so many options and activities that will allow you to enjoy the park at a more leisurely pace. Below, we've put together an itinerary for those looking to take it easy, enjoy some drinks, and still take in the breathtaking surroundings in and around one of America's most beautiful national parks. So sit back, relax, and let's explore the park at a more leisurely pace.

Breakfast at the Sunflower Cafe

Located in West Glacier Montana, The Sunflower Cafe is a true local treasure with a Cajun-style indoor and outdoor seating area nestled in the midst of nature. Its proximity to the Glacier National Park and on-site campground make it a convenient stop for breakfast. The chef's worldly culinary experiences are reflected in the menu with items such as the Thai breakfast bowl, Vietnamese Bánh mì sandwich, and Mexican chilaquiles, as well as the must-try beignets. For those looking to add some excitement to their morning, the cafe serves world-class bloody mary's. Enjoy the sounds of nature and cozy up next to the fire pits on chilly mornings at this unique restaurant.

Trail of Cedars/Avalanche Lake Hike

If you're in need of a refreshing and easy hike after all the exciting activities in Glacier National Park, we highly recommend the Trail of Cedars walk. This scenic half-mile loop trail, located near the Avalanche Creek Campground, winds through a lush old-growth cedar forest and alongside the tranquil Avalanche Creek on a boardwalk. Once you've warmed up your legs, continue your adventure onto the moderate 4.5-mile roundtrip hike to Avalanche Lake, where you'll be greeted with breathtaking views of the alpine lake surrounded by majestic mountains and cascading waterfalls. Trust us, this hike is not to be missed!

Shop at Apgar Village and Enjoy Lake Macdonald

After your hike, head to Apgar Village, located on the west side of Glacier National Park. The village is a great place to explore the shops and stores for unique souvenirs, gifts, and outdoor gear. After shopping, take a leisurely stroll to Lake Macdonald, which is just a short walk away from Apgar Village. The lake is one of the most picturesque spots in the park and offers plenty of opportunities to relax and soak in the scenery. If you're feeling adventurous, rent a kayak or paddleboard from one of the rental shops in Apgar Village and explore the lake from a different perspective. The calm waters of Lake Macdonald are perfect for paddling and provide an excellent way to experience the park's natural beauty up close. Alternatively, you can simply dip your toes into the crystal-clear waters of the alpine lake and enjoy the breathtaking views. There are several spots along the shore where you can sit and take in the stunning scenery. Finally, end your day by enjoying a picnic lunch or dinner at one of the picnic areas near Lake Macdonald. The park has several picnic areas with tables and grills, making it easy to enjoy a meal with friends and family amidst the beautiful surroundings.

Enjoy a drink and charcuterie at Josephine's Speakeasy

After heading out of the park, we recommend stopping at Josephine's Speakeasy in Coram, Montana. The bar takes you back in time to the 1920s prohibition era, with an ambiance reminiscent of the speakeasies of the past. The exterior of the bar is designed to look like a small cabin, making it easy to miss if you're not looking for it. Once inside, you'll find a cozy and intimate atmosphere with dim lighting, vintage decor, and classic jazz music playing in the background.

The bar serves a wide range of drinks, from classic cocktails to modern favorites, as well as a selection of local beers and wines. The bartenders are skilled mixologists and are happy to make recommendations or create a custom cocktail to suit your taste.

One of the unique features of Josephine's Speakeasy is their secret menu. To access it, you have to ask the bartender for the "secret menu" password. The secret menu offers a selection of specialty cocktails that are not listed on the regular menu, adding to the exclusivity and excitement of the speakeasy experience. The bar also offers a small food menu with appetizers and light bites, perfect for snacking on while enjoying your drinks. With its authentic 1920s ambiance, delicious drinks, and secret menu, it's a must-visit for anyone looking for a unique experience, and a great drink.

Glacier National Park has so much to offer beyond intense hikes and adventures. Whether you're in need of a break or simply want to explore the park at a more leisurely pace, this itinerary has something for everyone. From indulging in worldly cuisine at the Sunflower Cafe, to taking a refreshing hike on the Trail of Cedars and marveling at the breathtaking Avalanche Lake, to exploring Apgar Village and paddling or relaxing at the serene Lake Macdonald, and ending the day at Josephine's Speakeasy with a secret menu cocktail. These activities offer an incredible opportunity to experience the natural beauty of Glacier National Park in a relaxed and enjoyable way.
